Culture is an integral part of a society's life and must be preserved to prevent it from disappearing due to technological advances, globalization, and the influx of various foreign cultural values. This is also true for the Gayo people, who still practice a number of cultural values, such as the wedding ceremony known as "sinte mungerje." Several Gayo residents in Central Aceh Regency no longer understand the detailed stages and meaning of the traditional wedding ceremony. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the shifts or changes that have occurred in the Gayo traditional wedding process in Central Aceh Regency. The research questions are intended to clarify the issues under study, thus facilitating discussion. The research questions are: How is the Gayo traditional wedding process performed in Central Aceh Regency? What causes these changes in the Gayo traditional wedding process in Central Aceh Regency? What are the government's efforts to preserve Gayo customs, particularly wedding customs in Central Aceh Regency? The research questions are intended to clarify the issues under study, facilitating discussion. The research questions are: How does the Gayo traditional marriage process operate in Central Aceh Regency? What causes changes in the Gayo traditional marriage process in Central Aceh Regency? What are the government's efforts to preserve Gayo customs, particularly wedding customs in Central Aceh Regency? The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques include observation and documentation to generate data in the field. The results indicate several shifts in the Gayo traditional wedding procession that are now disappearing. This is due to increasingly modern developments, where many prospective brides and grooms are now incorporating traditional customs into their wedding ceremonies. However, the Central Aceh Regency government also plays a role in preserving this Gayo traditional wedding tradition, such as by regularly conducting outreach and continuing to conduct weddings in Central Aceh Regency according to the prevailing customs, ensuring their preservation.
